Principle design
The philosophy behind the wine cellar aimed to transform it into a captivating centrepiece within the entertaining space, offering carefully curated “vistas” that invites connection to other areas of the property. Situated at the core of the house, this space was positioned to serve as a visual focal point, achieved through meticulous design, strategic lighting, and a modern of materials harmonizing with the contemporary aesthetic of the property.
Architectural integration was a primary consideration, ensuring seamless blending of the wine cellar into the overall design scheme. Through ongoing dialogue with specialist fabricators well-versed in showcasing wine collections to their best advantage, the internal fit-out evolved, ensuring that every element was crafted to enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Finishes
In alignment with the contemporary aesthetic of the surrounding architecture, the wine cellar was designed to showcase a harmonious blend of modern materials. At the forefront of this design approach is the polished concrete floor and the striking facing brick feature wall, which serve as key focal points within the space. These elements, complemented by the industrial allure of Crittall windows, create a captivating environment that seamlessly merges contemporary sophistication with rugged industrial charm.
The polished concrete floor offers a sleek and minimalist backdrop, meanwhile, the facing brick feature wall adds texture and character, lending a sense of warmth and authenticity to the space. The juxtaposition of these materials creates a dynamic interplay of textures, resulting in a setting that is both visually striking and inviting.
These carefully selected finishes establish a contemporary and industrial ambiance that is ideally suited for showcasing and storing a custom wine collection. The wine cellar becomes not just a storage space, but a captivating destination within the home.
Joinery
The internal fit-out of the wine cellar seamlessly blends practical storage with innovative and elegant display techniques, ensuring both functionality and visual appeal.
The bespoke joinery design offers versatile storage options, accommodating bottles by the case while also providing opportunities for the individual display of specialty bottles. To further enhance the visual impact and architectural flow of the space, bottles are suspended where the architecture creates “vistas” throughout the property, creating a captivating visual experience for visitors.
Beyond aesthetics, the joinery design is meticulously crafted to maximize both storage capacity and display potential, ensuring that every bottle is showcased to its full advantage. Additionally, the space is equipped with specific environmental controls to maintain the perfect temperature for preserving the wine, providing optimal conditions for wine storage and aging.
